Aled Rhys Jones and his wife Lisa opened Diod on Rhosmaen Street in the summer of 2021, building a shop around coffee, wine and beer that customers can drink in or carry out by the bottle. Jones, chief executive of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society and a former presenter of BBC Radio Cymru's farming bulletin, grew up on a Carmarthenshire hill farm before settling in Llandeilo. The shop leans on Welsh suppliers, stocking Gower Coffee, Tea Traders Wales, Llaeth Liw wines and Sarah Bunton chocolates alongside cakes and light lunches. A second site, Cegin Diod, runs from the town's former Market Hall a short walk away. Diod opens Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday and Saturday until 6pm, closed Sundays.
