Built in 1888 on Annesdale, close to the River Great Ouse, the Riverside Inn has been run as a small guest house rather than a hotel chain, with each of its bedrooms decorated individually. Several rooms look directly over the river, and the building's original Victorian features, including its fireplaces and staircase, remain alongside more recent additions. It sits a short walk from Ely Cathedral in one direction and the railway station in the other, making it a base for visitors arriving without a car. Breakfast is served to guests each morning in a dining room facing the water, and the inn has built a following among repeat visitors who return for the same rooms.
