The Little Teapot Tearoom operates from the former Old Girls' School on Kirkgate in Sherburn-in-Elmet, a Victorian schoolroom saved from demolition around 2013. Dawn Jacques, a qualified chef, opened the tearoom in 2018 with her daughter Faye, having attended the school herself as a child; its name comes from the nursery rhyme she sang there. The tearoom serves homemade cakes and scones, sandwiches and afternoon teas, all baked on the premises. It is open Wednesday to Sunday, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The building's history as a village school is part of its appeal, with the original schoolroom now set out for table service. It remains a single-site, family-run business rather than part of any group, and has continued trading in the years since it opened despite the difficulties facing small hospitality businesses.
