The Pier Bistro& Takeaway

The Pier Bistro & Takeaway sits on Victoria Street in Stromness, a few steps from the harbour, and changes character through the day. Mornings and afternoons it runs as a small café serving tea, coffee and light lunches; by evening it turns into a sit-in restaurant alongside a chip-shop takeaway counter, serving fish suppers to queues heading for the last ferry. Outside, five picnic tables look over the harbour and welcome dogs, making it a stop on the Creative Orkney Trail as much as a place to eat. It remains one of the few independent takeaways left on the Stromness waterfront, set apart from the hotel dining rooms and holiday-let kitchens that otherwise dominate the street.
