Marc and Joelle Cullender opened Parkside on Bell Street in 2020, moving into the space left by La Barbe after its owner, Serge, retired the previous November. The couple had already spent nine years running a Reigate delicatessen on the same street before selling it in 2019, and Marc worked as a chef at Hartsfield Manor while the pair planned their next move. Parkside serves brunch daily from half past eight, with dinner service added on Fridays and Saturdays, and seats around seventy covers across large round tables for groups and smaller tables for couples. The kitchen buys in from regional suppliers including Hill House Farm, Chalk Hills Bakery and Crumbs Brewing. Marc describes the atmosphere as informal and family-friendly, built around the idea of a neighbourhood dining room rather than a destination restaurant.
