Jenkins &Son

Darren Jenkins runs Jenkins & Son, a fourth-generation fishmonger and the only wet fish shop left in Deal. The family traded from 118 High Street for decades before moving in June 2024 into a larger unit at 77-81 High Street, previously home to JC Rooks & Son butchers. Fish and shellfish arrive daily from local boats, and smoked products come from the Severn and Wye smokery rather than an in-house kiln. The new premises pair a traditional wet-fish and poultry counter with a street-food side serving fish bakes, chowders and filled baguettes to eat in or take away. Head chef Peter Keyes oversees the food side, while the counter itself still runs on the same daily deliveries and seasonal game that built the shop's reputation on the high street.
