Royal BarShankill

The Royal Bar has traded from 237 Shankill Road for more than a decade under its current operating company, Bar None N.I. Ltd, incorporated in 2010. The single-site pub serves the Shankill Road community with a standard lager, ale and spirits selection rather than cask ale, and hosts regular live music and karaoke nights. Its front bar retains a traditional layout with a separate off-licence counter for takeaway sales. Regulars describe it as a proper local, one of a shrinking number of independent bars remaining on a road that has lost several pubs over recent decades. The Royal Bar has no sister premises elsewhere in Belfast, continuing to operate as a community pub in one of the city's most historically significant working-class districts, with darts and pool alongside its bar trade.
