Staithes Studios

Ian and Stef Mitchell run Staithes Studios from 1 Slip Top on Staithes High Street, at the top of the slipway where the street meets the sea. The gallery shows the couple's own paintings, prints and digital work under the banner of a Contemporary Northern Landscape Gallery, alongside a working studio visitors can see into. Staithes has drawn painters since the Staithes Group gathered here between 1894 and 1909, and Ian and Stef continue that thread with landscape work rooted in the same coastline and moorland. The gallery occupies two spaces, studio and showroom, right where the fishing cobles used to land their catch.
