Trotters Family Bakers has traded since 1969, when John Trotter bought the former Belford home bakery and later relocated the business to Seahouses. Now run by third-generation baker Nathan Trotter, the bakery makes bread, cakes and savoury lines including Scotch pies -- a 2002 Scotch Pie Championship winner -- alongside sausage rolls and pastries, with family recipes such as Granny Trotter's fruit cake still in use. The business passed from John to his son Graeme, who expanded it through the early 2000s before his death in 2019, after which Nathan took over. The Main Street shop and café sells the full range over the counter alongside hot drinks and takeaway lunches, while the bakery also supplies wholesale customers across the North East. The business marked fifty years of trading in 2019 and remains under Trotter family ownership three generations on, run from a single production site in Seahouses.
