Donaldsons of Orkney trades from 38 Albert Street in Kirkwall, where the family butcher has operated since 1955 and marked its 70th anniversary in 2025. The shop runs its own in-house smokery, sausage kitchen, butchery and bakehouse, producing haggis, hot-smoked salmon, cured and smoked bacon, sausages, puddings and cooked meats using Orkney beef, lamb and other locally sourced meat. Its haggis and hot-smoked salmon have each won Great Taste Awards, and the business has picked up further honours for its gluten-free sausage and haggis ranges. Everything sold is prepared on the premises rather than bought in, and the shop supplies both retail customers and other local businesses and caterers across the islands. It remains independently owned, with no branches beyond the Albert Street shop. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 10am to 3pm, closed Sundays.
