Farringdon Social Coffee occupies a corner unit on Cowcross Street, a few minutes from Farringdon station, where owner Michael Yiannakou runs a single independent cafe rather than a chain outpost. The espresso is sourced from Volcano Coffee Works, ground to order for a shot the shop describes as carrying notes of milk chocolate, caramel and red grapes. Wooden counters and low stools give the narrow room a workaday feel suited to commuters grabbing a coffee before Farringdon's ticket barriers rather than to lingering over a long breakfast. Alongside coffee, the counter stocks pastries, doughnuts and muffins from local suppliers. In 2026 the business applied to Islington Council for a pavement licence to add outdoor seating on Cowcross Street. It draws a mixed crowd of office workers, market traders and Clerkenwell residents rather than passing tourists.
