Mates Cider & Perry Company was founded in 2010 by Roger Hesten and Dave Harrison at Minety, a village between Malmesbury and Cricklade in North Wiltshire, after years of making cider for their own consumption. The pair hand-pick a blend of West Country cider apples and perry pears, largely unsprayed and sourced from local orchards and gardens, then press and mature the juice over several months using traditional methods rather than forcing a fast turnaround. Their Linnet rhubarb cider has been voted best cider four times at CAMRA beer and cider festivals, and their standard dry cider has taken a bronze award at the International Cider & Perry competition. The company sells from its Minety base, with tastings held at launch events, and its ciders also appear on tap and in bottle at pubs and festivals across Wiltshire and into the wider West Country.
