Oak House Restaurant occupies the former Royal Oak pub on Station Road in Chapeltown, run by directors Joanne Beauchamp and Rob Lake since 2019. By day it serves as a small coffee shop from nine, then resets for an evening restaurant menu of British and European dishes such as pan-fried duck breast and an 8oz ribeye. The restaurant carries no alcohol licence of its own; diners bring their own wine or beer and pay a corkage fee per person instead. Around ten to twelve tables fill the dining room, so bookings run through Facebook messenger rather than a table-management system built for higher turnover. It opens Wednesday to Saturday for dinner, with a coffee-shop lunch service the same days, and a single Sunday opening on the last weekend of each month.
