Glenn Morris and Toni Hooper set up Potbelly Brewery in 2005, installing a ten-barrel plant in the corner of a former leather goods factory on Sydney Street in Kettering, a building that once served the town's boot and shoe trade. Brewing is now in the hands of Ian Loasby and Greg Johnson, who keep up to twelve cask ales running at any one time, from the Aisling golden bitter that was the brewery's first beer through to Piggin Saint, a certified gluten-free ale. Potbelly Best won a Northamptonshire CAMRA award in 2015, and Ambrosia Mild was named overall champion at the Northampton County Beer Festival the following year. A taproom operates on site at the brewery itself, letting visitors drink beer within a few feet of the vessel it was brewed in.
