The Queen's Head is a micropub at 12 Moor Street in Chepstow, occupying part of a mostly 18th-century, Grade II listed building that had stood empty as a former Whitbread pub for decades before reopening. Run independently by landlord Glen Ellis, it keeps to the micropub model: a single small room, conversation over music or machines, and a bar counter with eight handpumps. The focus is firmly on Welsh cask ales, at least six at a time and several brewed locally, alongside a rotating choice of real ciders. It was named Gwent CAMRA Pub of the Year for five years running, from 2016 to 2020, which reflects the consistency of the cellar. Opening is afternoons and evenings from Tuesday to Sunday. With no keg lagers or major-brewery ties, it works as a free house showcasing small producers.
