Assembly Coffee

Assembly Coffee occupies a single roastery and café at 244 Ferndale Road in Brixton. Nick Mabey and Michael Cleland founded the company in 2015, setting up their own roasting operation rather than sourcing beans wholesale. The on-site café, called Door, serves espresso and filter coffee pulled from beans roasted a few metres away, with the roasting drum visible through a glass partition behind the counter. Staff explain origin, process and roast date to customers who ask, and bags are sold retail alongside brewing equipment. Assembly supplies coffee to cafés and restaurants across London but keeps its own retail presence limited to this Ferndale Road address. Pastries are sourced from a local bakery and served alongside the coffee list, which rotates through single-origin lots as they arrive.
