Melisa Dora runs her ceramics studio from the rear of 57a Dartmouth Road in Forest Hill, a five-minute walk from the train station. She teaches taster workshops, multi-week courses and drop-in wheel-throwing sessions, alongside sessions built for teams and for children. Beginners are shown how to centre clay on the wheel before progressing to shaping and trimming, with Melisa glazing finished pieces herself once they have been bisque-fired, so newcomers leave with a completed object rather than raw greenware. Group bookings can be arranged for birthdays or work outings, run to the same format as the public taster sessions. The studio keeps a rotating gallery of work made on site, giving visitors a sense of what a single afternoon at the wheel can produce before they book.
