Good as Gold occupies a corner unit at 209 Mantle Road, a short walk from Brockley station, run by Anthony and Tom, who previously worked together at The Gentlemen Baristas. The pair first traded as a pop-up on Windmill Street in Fitzrovia before the pandemic prompted a move out to Brockley, where they took on a permanent site with an L-shaped counter, exposed industrial fittings and a run of house plants along the window. Weekday service runs from half past seven in the morning, with weekend hours starting later, and the same room turns into a dinner service on Thursday and Friday evenings before switching back to coffee the next morning. Outside those hours the space is available for private hire, giving the shop a second income stream beyond the counter.
