Nearabouts in your pocket

Add it to your home screen

Three taps, and the atlas has its own icon on your phone. There is nothing to install from a store — Nearabouts runs in your browser, and this simply gives it a front door.

On iPhone or iPad

Use Safari — it is the only iPhone browser that can do this.

  1. Tap Share

    The square with an arrow coming out of the top, in the bar at the bottom of Safari.

  2. Tap Add to Home Screen

    A sheet slides up. Scroll down the list a little and it is there, beside a small plus.

  3. Tap Add, top right

    The Nearabouts mark appears on your home screen. That is it — open it like any app.

On Android

Chrome, Edge, Samsung Internet and Firefox all do this.

  1. Tap the menu

    The three dots at the top right of the browser.

  2. Tap Install app

    Some browsers call it Add to Home screen. Either one is the right one.

  3. Tap Install to confirm

    The Nearabouts mark appears on your home screen. That is it — open it like any app.

Then what?

Open it and tap what’s near you. It will ask for your location the first time — that is the only thing it ever asks for, it stays on your phone, and we never store it.

Nothing is different if you would rather not add it. The map and everything else work just the same from a bookmark.
