Edward and Tom have owned Dart Gallery on Lower Street since 2014, after selling a gallery they had built in Hampshire; the business itself has stayed in the same family since 1999. The two-floor space, in an early nineteenth-century building close to the Dartmouth waterfront, shows a changing selection of contemporary British painters, sculptors and printmakers, working across oils, acrylics and raku clay, and offers conservation-standard picture framing in house. It has held Own Art scheme membership, which lets buyers pay for a piece in interest-free instalments, for two decades. Open six days a week, the gallery closes on Tuesdays and keeps shorter hours on Mondays and Sundays. The pair's stated aim is a collection that keeps evolving rather than settling on one fixed set of names.
