Island SUP operates from Jackson's Bay on Barry Island, running stand-up paddleboarding lessons and coaching for beginners through to advanced paddlers. The school is owned and run by Kerry Baker, an ASI-accredited instructor and competitive paddler who has represented Wales internationally in SUP racing. Island SUP holds ASI and AALA accreditation and operates as an ASI Instructor Training Centre, meaning it also trains and certifies new SUP instructors. Sessions include beginner tasters, technical coaching, SUP surf lessons, youth camps and group bookings, run in small groups with instructor ratios as tight as one-to-two. A linked club, Island SUP Club, offers ongoing membership for paddlers who want to keep training after a first lesson. The business holds an Adventure Activities Licence valid through 2028. It operates from the beach rather than a retail premises, using Jackson's Bay's sheltered water for lessons before taking more experienced paddlers further along the coast.
