Fauvette opened inside Chris Capus, a long-standing former seed merchant's shop on Glebe Street in Penarth, run by lifelong friends Philippa and Jean-Marc, who both built careers in cheese before opening on their own. The counter holds artisan cheeses from across the British Isles, sold whole or cut to order, alongside deli goods, bread and a cheese bar where boards are served to eat in. Wines lean towards natural and biodynamic producers, sold by the bottle or, through a refill scheme, straight from larger containers that customers bring back and reuse. Beer, cider and juice fill out the shelves. The shop takes its name from a childhood memory of a brown and white cow on Jean-Marc's family farm in France's Loire Valley. Opening hours run Tuesday to Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.
