John Burgess makes wheel-thrown stoneware from his studio on Home Street, firing functional pieces such as mugs, vases, soap dispensers and dog bowls in an electric kiln on site. The shop sells finished work directly from the studio, with visitors able to watch pieces being thrown during opening hours. Burgess also teaches beginner throwing lessons from the space and runs an open-studio scheme giving other potters access to wheels and kiln time outside his own working hours. The Home Street premises opened in 2024, a former commercial unit converted into a dedicated pottery space with room for a shopfront, teaching area and a small gallery corner for other makers' work. Everything sold in the shop is thrown by Burgess himself rather than bought in from other producers.
