Anthony Legge, a Herefordshire farmer's son, opened Legges in Bromyard in 2000 to sell meat from farms within six miles of the shop rather than through wholesale markets. The Tenbury Road counter sells grass-fed beef, free-range lamb and pork alongside handmade sausages, bacon and pies made on site, plus a Bromyard Brie sold under the Legges name. A second shop trades from the Copper Kettle building on Aylestone Hill in Hereford. The business, which now employs around 30 local staff, was named among The Times' Best 35 farm shops in Britain and was Highly Commended at the 2026 Countryside Alliance Awards. Legges still describes itself as farmers first, butchers second.
