Limestone Books

Limestone Books occupies 3 The Shambles on Settle's Market Square, an independent bookshop opened in 2019 by founder Tanya Carter and taken over by husband-and-wife team Ben and Becky Caldwell in October 2025. The shop carries a curated stock of fiction, non-fiction and children's titles, with an ordering service for books not held in stock that typically arrive for collection the next day. The Caldwells describe themselves as collectors turned booksellers, continuing a shop that has become a fixture of Settle's small market square alongside the town's Shambles buildings. Limestone Books opens Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm, and closes on Sundays and Mondays. The shop is a short walk from the Settle-Carlisle railway station, a line celebrated in several of the local-interest titles it stocks.
