ND John Wines began in 1995 as a trade-only supplier to restaurants, hotels and stadia around Wales, founded by Nick John, before opening a retail shop on Walter Road in 2003. The shop stocks more than 2,000 wines, spirits, beers and champagnes, with Enomatic tasting machines behind the counter letting customers sample bottles by the glass before committing to a case. Since 2007 the business has also sold online across the UK, developing padded packaging designed to survive courier handling of fragile bottles. ND John supplies Cloudy Bay and Louis Roederer Cristal to the on-trade in Wales and runs an annual Swansea International Wine Fair. John describes the shop's approach as wanting to be big enough to matter yet small enough to care, reflected in a loyalty scheme for regulars buying by the case.
