Rachel and George Peacock began serving tea from their own living room in 2004; the business has since expanded into the kitchen, hallway, dining room and garden of their Georgian building on Waterside, by the River Great Ouse in Ely. The tea list draws leaves from every continent, served alongside cream teas, sandwiches and hot dishes made to order, with gluten-free scones available. Two ensuite bed and breakfast suites, the Brewery House and the Cottage, were added above the tearoom in 2013, each furnished with antiques and its own sitting room. The tearoom's dog, Denis, is a regular presence among the tables. Peacocks opens Wednesday to Sunday from 9.30am to 5pm, with last orders at 4.30pm, closing Monday and Tuesday except on bank holidays.
