Peter Wood &Sons Butchers

Peter Wood & Sons has operated as a family run butchers and delicatessen in Bridgend since 1965. For around fifty years the business traded from a stall in Bridgend's Indoor Market before relocating to Unit 18 at the Rhiw Shopping Centre after the market building was closed over structural concerns with its roof. The counter sells fresh meat cut to order alongside a delicatessen range, and the shop puts together meat packs and hampers, with home delivery offered across the Bridgend area. It is run day to day by the Wood family, who built the business's reputation on the original market stall over three generations of trading. The shop keeps butchers' hours, opening early and closing mid-afternoon six days a week. It remains one of the longest continuously trading independent butchers in Bridgend town centre, having outlasted a change of premises without a change of ownership.
