Pier 36 opened in September 1999 on Donaghadee's harbour quayside at 36 The Parade, combining a guest house, restaurant and bar known as the Pub on the Pier under single ownership. The bar has been named Northern Ireland Pub of the Year three times, in 2003, 2006 and 2012, and was a finalist for Guesthouse of the Year at the LCN Awards. Nautically themed guest rooms overlook the harbour and the Copeland Islands beyond, and the kitchen serves fresh fish alongside local beef, pork, lamb and game for lunch and dinner. The building has also appeared as a filming location for the television series Hope Street. It operates as one harbourside premises rather than a group, drawing on Donaghadee's identity as a historic fishing port.
