Sally Lunn's occupies one of the oldest houses in Bath, on the little passage off North Parade, and has built its long fame on one thing: the Sally Lunn bun, a large, light, brioche-like roll served sweet or savoury, warm from the same address for generations. The origin story is more legend than record, but the building is genuinely medieval, the bun is genuinely good, and the eating house is genuinely family-run, under the Overtons. It is touristy, inevitably, but it is the real building and a real family business rather than a chain trading on the name. Come for the bun and the age of the place.
