Sole Butchers has traded from 5 Broad Street in New Alresford since 1994. John Sole began his butchery training in Selborne in 1960, and his son Mark joined the family business in 1989; between them they have supplied the town with fresh meat and game from this shop for over three decades. Beef, lamb, pork, poultry and game are cut and prepared on the premises, and the counter also carries homemade sausages, pies and ready meals cooked in-house each week. The shop sources from Hampshire farms where possible and advises customers on cuts for roasting, barbecuing or slow cooking. Seasonal game, including pheasant and venison in season, sits alongside the everyday counter stock. Sole Butchers has built a following among local households and restaurants during its time on Alresford's Broad Street, and the shop takes orders ahead of Christmas each year for fresh turkeys, geese and other seasonal meat.
