Stewart Brewing

Stewart Brewing began in Steve and Jo Stewart's dining room, where a home-brew kit given to Steve as a teenager grew into recipe trials in a coal shed before the couple registered the business in 2003 and started production the following year. The brewery now runs from a custom-built site on the old Bilston Mine ground in Loanhead, bought and fitted out in 2013 after years in a smaller rented unit nearby. An on-site Beer Kitchen serves pizza alongside the core range, and a brewery shop fills growlers and sells cans for takeaway. Visitors can book a brewery tour and tasting, or a hands-on 'Brew It Yourself' session where they help produce a batch under staff supervision. Steve trained formally in brewing and distilling at Heriot-Watt University before working at breweries in Scotland, Belfast and Boston.
