Amrik Rajput and his son Krishan run Stirchley Wines & Spirits from a High Street shopfront the family has traded from since 1979, though its reputation now rests on a beer selection built up since the late 1980s. Regulars bring in their own growlers to fill from keg lines normally reserved for pubs, a service the shop has offered longer than most in the city. Judges named it the UK's Best Independent Craft Beer Retailer at the 2024 SIBA Business Awards, and RateBeer's global users voted it among the best places in the world to drink for several years running. Staff know the range well enough to steer a customer between a familiar cask ale and something stranger from a small overseas brewer. The shop also stocks wine and spirits, but beer is what draws people from outside Stirchley.
