The Jam Gallery opened at 18 North Street in Ashburton in 2023, having launched first as an online venture by artists Michael Jones and Glen Middleham, whose surnames combine to form the gallery's trading name, Jam Contemporary Art. The single shop sells prints, sculpture and statement art pieces alongside art materials and supplies, favouring affordable, contemporary work over traditional landscape painting. Stock includes coastal and pop-art prints, jigsaw puzzles and small sculptures assembled from vintage finds. Open Monday to Saturday from half past ten until half past four, the gallery is one of several independent galleries to have opened in Ashburton in recent years, trading from its North Street premises alone.
