ArtHouse at 65 Eastbank Street in Southport is run by Southport Contemporary Arts, a not-for-profit social enterprise whose joint director is Norrie Beswick-Calvert. The organisation started as a single stall in Southport Market in 2009 before taking on premises on Eastbank Street, where it now operates a gallery alongside studios let out to resident artists. The gallery mounts rotating exhibitions of local work and has sold tens of thousands of pounds worth of art on behalf of its members. Under the same network, ClayWorks provides a dedicated ceramics studio for around fifty potters, while ArtsLoft runs weekly classes in painting, drawing, textiles, felting and printmaking, including a session for autistic members. ArtHouse opens Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 3pm and Saturday from 11am to 4pm, closed Sunday and Monday.
