Arts Cafe Painswick began as a pop-up during the aftermath of lockdown and was formally incorporated in May 2023, when locals Lauren and Jayne took over its running. Based inside the Painswick Centre on Bisley Street, it combines a coffee shop with a small retail section selling paintings, prints, ceramics, honey and beeswax candles made by artists and producers from in and around the village. Jayne bakes the quiches on site, and the counter also serves locally sourced sausage rolls, cakes and barista coffee, with vegan and gluten-free options available. Dogs are welcome throughout. It operates from this single Painswick premises, run day to day by its two co-directors rather than as part of a wider café group, and continues to give shelf and wall space to local makers.
