Daneside Theatre opened on Park Road in 1984, built after Congleton lost its previous drama venue, the Players Hall on Eaton's Bank. It is run by the Daneside Community Theatre Trust, a registered charity formed in 1980 to promote drama, music and dance across the borough. The trust does not stage its own productions but lets its 300-seat auditorium to local companies, including the Congleton Players, alongside touring shows and film screenings. Funding has come from local and regional councils, the National Lottery and the Congleton Inclosure Trust among others. The building expanded in 2001 to add further rehearsal and community space and remains Congleton's only dedicated theatre.
