Margaret Macrae runs Fisherman's Kitchen, known locally as Buth Bheag, from the Old Ferry Slip in Kyle of Lochalsh, selling fish and shellfish landed by local boats alongside a deli counter and takeaway. Macrae's Cullen Skink took the World Champion title at the 2020 World Cullen Skink Championship, plus a separate prize for her version 'with a twist'. The shop makes rolls and salads with Skye hot-smoked salmon, prawns and crab, and keeps a small stock of local oatcakes, fudge and freshly roasted coffee. Gluten-free and halal batter are both available for the fish and chips. The family-run shop sits by the old ferry slipway that once carried traffic across to Skye before the bridge opened, giving passing trade a reason to stop before or after the crossing.
