Gosford Bothy Farm Shop & Butchery occupies a converted seasonal workers' bothy on the Gosford Estate at Aberlady, opened in 2007 with a farm diversification grant from the Scottish Government. The business is run as a partnership between the Wemyss and March Estate and Robert Webster, a long-term residential tenant on the estate who established a herd of wild boar in its woodland. The butchery counter sells estate-reared wild boar, grass-fed beef and lamb alongside game in season, and the shop stocks preserves and other produce from East Lothian suppliers. What began as a small diversification project now employs seven full-time and twelve part-time staff. Open Tuesday to Saturday, the shop draws estate visitors and regular local custom for meat reared on site rather than bought in, which sets it apart from farm shops that mainly resell. A small cafe operates within the same converted building.
