Hilltop GardenCentre

Hilltop Garden Centre has traded from Shilton Lane on the northern edge of Coventry since 1981, when John and Pat Ashby bought what was then a small plant nursery. The couple built up the business over the following decades, and it remains independently owned today. Two showrooms stock garden furniture and outdoor accessories, and a wide range of bedding plants, shrubs and herbaceous perennials, plus seasonal stock such as primroses, pansies and Christmas trees, surrounds an on-site café. A play area with outdoor seating sits alongside the plant beds, making the centre a stop for families as well as gardeners. The café serves breakfasts, lunches and cakes on slightly shorter hours than the main shop. Hilltop sits in open countryside at Shilton village, just off the A46 ring road, and continues to trade under family ownership more than four decades after the Ashbys first took it on.
