David and Joan Powell founded the family firm in Rhyl in 1967; their sons brought it to Chester in 2002, taking a berth on Eastgate Row where jewellers have traded since G J H Browns set up in 1878. The brothers carry the trade's credentials rather than just its stock — Greg trained as a goldsmith at the Hills workshop in Liverpool, Will holds the Gemological Institute of America's diamond qualification — and the trade press profiled Will among its inspiring independents in 2022. The firm bought Lowe & Sons, Chester's oldest jewellers, in 2018, and runs a vintage shop besides: a small family group, declared as such, still answerable to the surname over the door.
