Islington Books

Des and Linda Calton spent more than twenty-five years selling books from a stall at fairs and rallies before opening Islington Books on Tower Street in King's Lynn in 2024 — the town's only independent bookshop. It is a husband-and-wife shop with a particular strength in militaria and local history alongside the general stock, run by two people who have been in the book trade, in their way, for decades. King's Lynn is a fine old Hanseatic port that had gone without a bookshop; the Caltons have given it one. New, but the opposite of untested.
