Fintona · Fermanagh & TyroneSurveyed

McAtee's has occupied a prominent spot on Fintona's Main Street since 1910, when Francis McAtee opened the pub that has since passed through three generations of the same family. A serious fire at the turn of the century gutted the building; it was rebuilt from scratch and reopened in 2004, retaining the mirrored, back-to-front shopfront sign that gives the pub its local nickname. Today it operates as a bar, restaurant and off-licence combined, with open fires, a function room used for family and GAA celebrations, and a straightforward bar-food menu alongside stout and ale on tap. Current owners Vincent and Fran McAtee, grandchildren of the founder, continue to run the business day to day. Few pubs in this part of Tyrone can claim more than a century under one family's ownership.
