Cirencester's craft centre began as the Cirencester Workshops in 1979 and has run as an independent charity ever since — nine unpaid trustees, a trading arm, and no council anywhere in the chain. The old brewery court holds resident makers' studios, galleries rebuilt in 2008, a shop, the Blend café and more than two hundred courses a year, with the Barrel Store — hostel-style accommodation added in 2016 — letting course-takers stay the night. Around a hundred and fifty thousand people pass through annually, and Dame Fiona Reynolds serves as honorary patron. Closed Sundays.
