Octavia's Bookshop occupies 24 Black Jack Street in central Cirencester. Octavia Karavla opened the shop in March 2011 after working at Ottakar's and then Waterstone's in the town, and the business remains under her sole ownership. More than half of the stock is children's fiction, with the rest given over to general fiction, non-fiction and gift books, and the shop runs school accounts, supplies classroom book lists and organises author signings and book fairs through the year. In 2012 it was runner-up in the Telegraph's Best Small Shops in Britain award, and in 2013 it won Best Children's Independent Bookshop in The Bookseller Industry Awards. The shop is registered as Octavia's Bookshop Ltd, incorporated in 2013, and continues to trade from the same Black Jack Street premises it opened in. It is open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm, and takes gift voucher and reading recommendation requests by email or in person.
