Pengelly's has traded as a fishmonger on the quay at Looe since 1946, buying day-boat catch landed by the town's small inshore fishing fleet just steps from the shop door. Since 2022 the business has been owned by Sam and Laura Chapman, Sam having grown up around Looe's fishing industry; together with two shops and a Lobster Shack eatery, they run a counter selling flat fish, white fish, shellfish and ready-to-eat items such as pates and rollmops. Staff give advice on preparing less familiar catches, and an online delivery service dispatches orders from Looe on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The shop keeps close ties to the boats it depends on, buying whatever the tide brings in.
