David and Kate Berwick press cider at the Old Mushroom Farm at Halsetown, above St Ives — small batches, one hundred per cent juice, nothing added beyond a touch of sulphur. The apples are hand-picked around Cornwall, a mobile press travelling out to the orchards, and a quarter or more of the crop comes from abandoned Cornish orchards that would otherwise go unpicked; the Kirthenwood reserve is pressed from historic West Country and rare Cornish varieties. The Farmhouse still was named World's Best Still Cider at the World Cider Awards in 2021; Kirthenwood took Taste of the West's supreme champion cider in 2020. There is no shop or tasting room at the farm — find the ciders in local shops and restaurants, online, or each June at their Royal Cornwall Show bar, the Dreckly Inn.
