Daniel Farrow spent years running restaurants before stepping away in 2022 to paint full time. He returned to hospitality in January 2026, taking an empty room above the Islington Arts Club on Upper Street and turning it into Petit Bistro Chevalet, a French bistro that doubles as a gallery. His own paintings and work by other artists hang on dark crimson walls, available to buy alongside dinner, and the menu is chalked directly onto an easel at the bar and changes with whatever is fresh that day. The relaunch brings a cultural programme back to the Arts Club, with talks, live music and rotating exhibitions planned alongside classic French cooking. Open evenings only, Tuesday to Saturday, the room seats a small number of covers, keeping the atmosphere closer to a private supper club than a conventional restaurant.
