Emma Davey took over the second-hand bookshop on Northgate in Peebles in 2021, after a career spent in the conservation of paper. Priorsford Books deals in second-hand and nearly-new titles, from popular fiction through to specialist and academic works that are hard to find elsewhere, alongside prints and book-related gifts. Davey has absorbed several smaller specialist booksellers into the shop's stock, including the vintage-fiction imprint Greyladies and the children's specialist Old Children's Bookshelf, broadening the range available across a single counter. She is occasionally assisted by her partner, Malcolm MacCallum. The shop keeps to a five-day week, closed on Sundays and Mondays, reflecting its scale as a small operation run largely by one person. Selected stock is also listed for sale through AbeBooks. The shop takes its name from the fictional town in the Peebles-set novels of O. Douglas.
