The George stands on Easingwold's cobbled Market Place, an 18th-century coaching inn now owned by the private Bossick Hotels group rather than a national hotel chain. Sixteen en-suite rooms sit above a bar stocking eight cask lines with up to six guest ales at once, and an oak-beamed restaurant serves Sunday lunch alongside pub classics and more contemporary dishes. A separate two-bedroom townhouse next door, the Innkeeper's House, offers self-catering for longer stays, and several rooms take dogs. The building keeps its open fires and horse brasses from its coaching days, when it sheltered travellers and their horses on the road between York and the Dales.
